About these terms

These terms cover your use of marcelgelinas.com, Marcel's Assistant (the automated chat and phone assistant), appointments, and the services provided by Marcel Gelinas, operating as Time Back Huron, in Ontario, Canada. By using the site, booking an appointment, or asking me to do work, you agree to them. If a written quote or agreement for a project says something different, the quote or agreement wins for that project.

The website and Marcel's Assistant

The site and the assistant give general information about my services. The assistant is automated: it can make mistakes, and it doesn't make binding promises. Prices and timelines are confirmed by me before any work starts. Please don't share payment details, passwords, or health information in the chat or on the phone.

Don't use the site or the assistant to send spam, try to break or overload them, or pretend to be someone else. I may block access that looks like abuse.

Appointments

You can book a free review, a call, or Tech Help through the site, by phone, by text, or with the assistant. You'll get a confirmation by text, and a calendar invite if you give an email address. Calls and video calls are held over Google Meet unless we agree otherwise.

If you need to change or cancel, text or call 226-455-6111as early as you can. Because I do this work around a full-time job, I may occasionally need to reschedule; if so, I'll let you know as soon as possible and offer another time.

The free review

The free 30-minute review costs nothing and comes with no obligation. The short written summary afterwards is yours to keep and use however you like, whether or not you hire me.

Consulting, automation, and build projects

Projects are quoted in writing before they start: what I'll deliver, the price, the timeline, any deposit, and the support period. Rapid Solution Sprints have a fixed price agreed up front. Work outside the agreed scope is quoted separately before I do it. Unless the quote says otherwise, you own what I build for you once it's paid for, and I may reuse my general know-how and tools.

Tech Help

Tech Help prices are listed on the Tech Help page. The price is agreed before I start. Work that isn't on the menu is $150 per hour, and I'll always check with you before going past what we agreed. Travel charges, the $49 diagnosis charge for things that can't be fixed, and parts or software (at cost) are as described on that page.

Back up first.I take care with your devices and data, but computers, phones, and drives can fail, especially old ones. Please keep your own backup of anything important before any work. I'm not responsible for data lost from devices or drives that were already failing.

For remote help, I only connect with your permission, while you're there, and the connection is removed when we're done. You confirm that you own the devices and accounts I work on, or have permission to have them worked on, and that the software on them is properly licensed.

I don't provide Wi-Fi or router setup, internet, phone, or TV service, security cameras, or smart-home installation. For those, please contact your provider.

Payment

Tech Help is paid when the job is done. Projects are paid as set out in the quote. I accept e-transfer, cash, and card. All prices are in Canadian dollars, plus any applicable tax.

Other services you use

Some tools involved in my work, such as Google, Microsoft, Twilio, and the software on your devices, are provided by other companies under their own terms. I'm not responsible for their outages, pricing, or policies.

Limits of liability

I'll do the work carefully and professionally. To the extent the law allows, my total responsibility for any claim related to a service is limited to the amount you paid me for that service, and I'm not responsible for indirect losses such as lost profits or lost data. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under Ontario consumer protection law that can't be limited.

How I handle your information is explained in the Privacy Policy.

Changes and governing law

I may update these terms; the date at the top shows the latest version. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there.
